Praised for her “fine, warm mezzo-soprano voice”, Quinn Middleman looks forward to a busy 2021-2022 season with multiple company debuts. She appears as Alisa/Lucia di Lammermoor with Madison Opera, Mother/Amahl and the Night Visitors with Opéra Louisiane, the alto soloist in Beethoven's 9th Symphony Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and returns to Haymarket Opera singing Testo/La Susanna.  She will also cover Ilona/She Loves Me and Public Opinion/Orpheus in the Underworld at Madison Opera. She joins Music Academy of the West as Filippyevna/Eugene Onegin under the baton of Daniela Candillari and as a soloist in the 75th anniversary concert under Speranza Scappucci.

 

In 2021, Quinn covered the Countess/Queen of Spades at Des Moines Metro Opera, performed as Ježibaba/The Littlest Mermaid with OPERA Iowa, and was an artist in residence with LYNX Project in Chicago. 

 

In 2019-2020, Quinn was a Resident Artist at Utah Opera. There she appeared as Flora/La Traviata, Madeleine/Silent Night, Myrtale/Thaïs (canceled due to COVID-19), and covered Rosina/Il barbiere di Siviglia, as well as soloing with the Utah Symphony in Handel’s Messiah and other concerts.

Other recent performances include Susanna/The Ghosts of Versailles with Chautauqua Opera, Mother/The Scarlet Ibis with Chicago Opera Theater, , Rachel/The Great God Pan with Chicago Fringe Opera, and Songe/Ariane et Bachus with Haymarket Opera. She has also performed with Crested Butte Music Festival, Central City Opera, St Petersburg Opera, Tanglewood Music Center, Aspen Opera Center, and SongFest. Quinn recently won the Opera Birmingham Competition, received the Mozart price in the Orpheus Vocal Competition, won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions- Wisconsin District, received third place in the Ziering-Conlon “Recovered Voices” competition, and won scholarships from the Musicians Club of Women and Evanston Music Club. She is passionate about art song and concert work, and has organized multiple benefit concerts for women’s shelters in Chicago. She holds a master’s degree from Northwestern University, and received bachelor’s degrees in both Oboe Performance and Vocal Arts from the University of Southern California. She currently studies with Nova Thomas.

In her spare time, Quinn enjoys yoga, reading, knitting, and fostering kittens.
